The Denver-based interior design and lighting design studios of global integrated design firm Stantec today announced the recent completion of new office space at 1225 17th St. for the capital firm -Denver-based investment, Mountaingate Capital.

The new office at 17th Street Plaza marks the most recent collaboration in a longstanding relationship between the two companies. Mountaingate engaged Stantec to imagine and create a space that supports Mountaingate’s growth and reflects the Mountaingate brand, a leading strategic investment partner for innovative, entrepreneur-led businesses.

“We have a great working relationship with the Stantec team and trusted them to help us design a next-generation environment for our team,” said Bennett Thompson, Mountaingate’s general manager. “Colorado’s lifestyle and work ethic are defining elements of our culture. It is important that our office reflects the unique characteristics of Mountaingate. Stantec helped us create space to support our growing team, inspire collaboration, and maximize opportunities for engagement.

Mountaingate chose a 25-story office at 1225 17th St. because it offered a strong visual connection to the mountains and Denver’s urban environment. In the new space, Mountaingate and Stantec worked to envision new ways for team members to work – both in collaborative and head-down environments. Panoramic views and abundant natural light characterize the common spaces along the perimeter, with private offices and workspaces comprising the interior for approximately 20 employees.

Mountaingate has grown and continues to evolve as a company, and the new office has allowed us to customize a space with that evolution in mind,” said Sarah McGarry IIDA, LEED AP, NCIDQ and Director of Stantec in Denver. “Every detail has been carefully selected to create a culture-rich environment that celebrates and supports who they are as a company and as a team.”

Unified by a sophisticated approach to mountain aesthetics, the design features natural stone to evoke the texture and color of a mountain landscape, an ombré blue wall inspired by the vast Colorado sky, and angled beams that add interest and depth to the nine-foot ceilings. The common work and lounge areas enjoy the best views.

Natural light flows freely throughout the space through full-height clear glass. Along with a thoughtful daylighting strategy, Stantec’s lighting design studio carefully integrated a very unique and complimentary cove LED lighting system into the common areas. In private offices, pendant lighting adds an upscale residential touch.

The Mountaingate team officially moved into space in late summer 2021.

Partners on this project included i2 Construction (general contractor) and Savills (broker and project management).
