Israeli Azrieli expands data center business with London deal

JERUSALEM, June 26 (Reuters) – Azrieli Group (AZRG.TA) is buying an anonymous data center operator in London for 52 million pounds ($64 million), the Israeli property developer announced on Sunday.
The center has leases with customers for an average term of about five years, Azrieli.
Azrieli, one of Israel’s largest mall operators, also said it is buying adjacent land and both lands have potential for future development and construction.

The deal is the next step in Azrieli’s expansion into the data center business, he said, adding that London is the world’s second-largest data center market.
Azrieli bought Norway’s Green Mountain AS, which operates server farms, last year for 7.6 billion crowns ($822 million).
“Our vision is to continue to expand incrementally into several more international markets, and London is the perfect location to continue to grow our data center platform,” said Azrieli President Danna Azrieli.
The company noted that its data center operations accounted for 12% of the group’s business.
