UK consumers become more confident despite inflation fears
Britons have grown more confident this month despite concerns about inflation and were more willing to buy big-ticket items, according to a poll that will be good news for retailers gearing up for the Christmas season. The GfK consumer confidence index rose for the first time in 4 months to -14 in November from -17 in October, which was its lowest level since a coronavirus lockdown in early 2021. Japanese court suspends H2O Retailing merger in Kansai
A Japanese district court has granted an injunction against the proposed merger of Kansai Super Market Ltd with H2O Retailing Corp. Supermarket operator OK Corp, which was also interested in buying Kansai Super Market, had sought the injunction for alleged irregularities in the Kansai Super Market’s vote counting process at the shareholders meeting that approved the transaction.
