Aubrey Plaza, Alison Brie SXSW Film ‘Spin Me Round’ Sold to IFC Films – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: by Jeff Baena Spin me around which had its world premiere at SXSW last month, has had its North American rights picked up by IFC Films and AMC+. The pic will be released in theaters and on VOD and will premiere exclusively on AMC+ this summer.
The photo features filmmaker Baena’s new team with Alison Brie, Aubrey Plaza and Molly Shannon starring in the film. Brie co-wrote and produced spin me around in which she plays the manager of an Italian restaurant chain who wins the opportunity to participate in the franchise’s educational immersion program in Italy. What she thought was a romantic getaway turns into chaos and disaster.
Baena and Brie have previously teamed up on horse girl together, in which the actress starred, and co-wrote with Baena, who also directed. Brie also appeared in Baena’s The small hours and Joey. Plaza starred in Baena’s the Small hours, Joshy and Life after Beth. Shannon starred in Baena’s Small hours, girl on horseback, and Life after Beth.
spin me around also marks IFC Films’ third feature starring Brie, who recently starred in Location, the Dave Franco-directed thriller that was a hit in drive-ins nationwide and on VOD in the summer of 2020, when the majority of theaters were closed due to Covid; this photo brought in $1.6 million.
Alessandro Nivola, Zach Woods, Ayden Mayeri, Ben Sinclair, Tim Heidecker, Debby Ryan and Fred Armisen complete the cast of the comedy directed, produced and co-written by Baena. spin me around is a Duplass Brothers and Limelight production.
